Morgan Presents with CREW COLLABORATIVE (Are You On #TheCrew?)

Morgan Kumpfmiller is on a mission to inspire next gens to consider a career in construction. Historically, people have not thought fondly of blue collar jobs but the construction field is exciting, rewarding, and the pay gap between men and women in the industry is one of the lowest across the US. Morgan recently presented on this topic at a Classroom Talk with Crew Collaborative.

Crew Collaborative is a construction workforce movement and non-profit organization that uses innovative tactics to strengthen the blue-collar workforce and change the stigma surrounding careers in construction. One facet of their initiative is called “Classroom Talks.” Classroom Talks offer middle and high school students the opportunity to interact, one-on-one, with construction professionals across the country who are on a job site. Classroom Talks focuses on diverse professional particularly with the ideology that students can “see themselves represented in one of the presenters.”

“I love talking with students about the highs and lows of my career. When I was growing up, I didn’t see women in the construction field. For a long time, I didn’t think that women “should” be in the field either (which I was constantly told). I would have probably started my company sooner had I seen someone like myself, and if the mentorship opportunities were there. This is why I am delighted to be this person for all individuals who are interested on construction – women especially,” commented Kumpfmiller.
